Diestelhorst Bridge
Diestelhorst is an arched, reinforced-concrete bridge that was built in 1914-15, named for Gotlieb Diestelhorst, whose family owned the land where it was built.
The bridge has the distinction of being the first bridge for automobiles and the first reinforced-concrete bridge built across the Sacramento River.
A newer bridge has replaced it for vehicle use, but it remains for walking, biking, etc and is an icon of the Redding, California area.
